It is time for a new season within the youth department and with the new season comes a few new items you may want to look into and refined items you have come to know and love.

1)Fusion Friday Nights : Every Friday Night from 7:37pm until 9pm with optional cafe-flex time from 9pm until 10pm

Fusion is a youth group that is dedicated to Truth, Relevancy, Journey and Authenticity. We don’t make many promises but when we do you can take them to the bank. At Fusion Friday Night we Promise:

-To make you think

-Never embarrass you or your guest

-Provide space and opportunity for you to lead if you would like

We meet each Friday in a variety of settings so keep this site bookmarked and check out the calendar regularly.

2)Sr. High After Hours : Most Friday Nights following Fusion from 9pm until 10:30

Authenticity is tough in a world where superficiality is valued so highly. We attempt to fight the urge t conform by joining together in intimate settings where the most important rule is – NO MASKS ALLOWED!

Join us for a FUSION Friday night then sneak away to one of the After Parties to discuss the night, eat food and be accepted.

Keep your eyes on the calendar for schedules. Also if your family would like to host an After Hours Party please contact Pastor Justin

3)Fusion Mentorship

No better place is Truth and Relevancy found then in consistent interactions with another. It is easy to feel lost in the crowd at FUSION which is why we have FUSION Mentorship.

If you sign up you will always know what’s going on in the FUSION world but more importantly someone from the FUSION world will always know what’s going on in your world and help you through whatever they can.

If you would like to be in a Mentorship relationship (either as a mentor or mentoree) sign up yesterday.

4)Fusion Study: Every Wednesday Night from 7pm until 8:30 starting on September 22

A very important man turned to Jesus and asked him “What is Truth?” At FUSION we believe truth is not some disjointed abstract theory, rather, we believe truth is a person and we have dedicated ourselves and set aside Wednesday Nights each week to explore that Person.

5)Fusion Arts: Every Tuesday Night from 7pm until 8:30pm starting on September 14

Life journeys are important to us at FUSION and we believe the journey is best spent with friends and art. That is why we have two different groups who meet on Tuesday Nights to explore the gift of the arts.

Music: Is music your thing? Well you aren’t alone. Come out on Tuesday night and develop your talents and skills as a musician with this group of musicians who love music and God. All skill levels welcome. This group also gets to share their talents with the larger community on Friday Nights and Sunday Mornings

Film and Drama: This is the thespian group here at Fusion. We meet each week to create, direct, film short films and rehearse dramas and skits for the broader community on FUSION Friday Nights

We are also looking for financial donations so that we can send students who otherwise wouldn’t be able to go!

Also coming soon to FUSION

The Youth Department in conjunction with Pastor Wayne is excited to introduce a first to Evangel. A mentorship program that will involve the entire church body in helping students develop into healthy, whole, mature adults. The initiative is still in the early planning but all input and signs of interest will be coveted.

Then there was another pop. Really loud.
At first I thought maybe someone had thrown some firecrackers at him. He had this funny look on his face, like someone had said something to him that didn’t make any sense. Then he grabbed his stomach and kind of hunched over against the wall, and all this blood started leaking out between his fingers.
I started screaming, “Oh my gosh, somebody just shot Josh Emmit! Oh my gosh, somebody just shot Josh Emmit!”

That was a section of the first chapter. The main plot in this story is a murder, that the main character is trying to solve and she runs into some weird things along the way.
The book is a good mystery with an eerie suspense that keeps you hooked onto the book.
I thought the book was great and very interesting. I couldn’t put it down!
Although it is interesting, I would recommend this book for older readers, like teens, because of some scary content and a little bit of language.

“As for these youth, God gave them learning and skill in all literature and wisdom…” Daniel 1:17

Fusion is dedicated to developing literacy and learning habits with each student. Therefore Fusion will purchase a book(s) for students with the condition they describe in a paragraph why they would like to read said book and following the reading write a one page review.

This month’s book review is being done by Caleb L. Grade 7

Title: Isle of Swords

Author: Wayne Batson

The setting of this book is a place in the medieval times where there was a lot of piracy going on. And, in case you’re wondering, this book was written by the author of the Door Within Trilogy.

A group of pirates find a boy stranded on an island. He has lost all his memory so the pirates make him one of them. The pirate’s leader is a friend with The Brethren, a group of Christian monks. When he goes to them, they give him a monk with a strange map tattooed on his back which will lead them to the Isle of Swords!

But to get there they must outwit Bartholemew, the most notorious pirate leader, and the British Navy. But will they succeed? Is there even a real treasure?

This book is really great for anyone with a love for some action. I really love how the author lays out the different ways of fighting. Not like some extremely confusing books.

I would recommend this book to whoever loves action in a medieval type setting

While the Bible doesn’t call us to morph into poorly costumed Japaneses fighting machines – it does call us to morph. This month at Fusion we will be challenging one another to the true meaning of Christian training by weaving biblical teaching, popular culture, science, scholarship and spiritual practice in what may prove to be a tour de force month that will show the necessity of profound changes in how we view our lives and faith.

Dan Gardner’s Risk tells how our post-modern North American society unnecessarily worries about the small risks we encounter daily. Gardner uses examples of the fear of germs, terrorism, school shootings, asteroid catastrophes, child abduction and many others in conjunction with psychological factors such as confirmation, the good/bad rule and the anchoring law to prove his point that our society is the safest that it has ever been.

The book goes hand in hand with Gardners other book “A Culture of Fear” as well as “Panicology” , “Sway” and Marshall McLuhan’s “Understanding Media”.

The book provides an informative read while being entertaining and engaging.
